Some air exchangers are equipped with a system that makes it possible to recover and transfer the heat from the outgoing to the incoming air without the two coming in contact. Air exchangers with a heat recovery system (heat recovery ventilators) are a more effective and economical way of ventilating your home, because they retain the heat from the energy used for heating. Since 2012, this type of equipment has been required under Quebec’s Construction Code.
You can purchase such an exchanger* from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor of your choice. The following two are authorized agents of Gazifère for natural gas installations (see list below).
WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
Anyone whose home is on natural gas (Rate 2) and whose current air exchanger is not equipped with a heat recovery system.
Anyone who does not already have a heat exchanger or whose current air exchanger already is equipped with a heat recovery system is not eligible for this program.
HOW DO I DETERMINE WHETHER MY CURRENT AIR EXCHANGER HAS A HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM?
Heat recovery ventilators can’t be easily identified by their physical appearance. However, if your home was built before 2011, your current air exchanger probably does not have a heat recovery system.

How to participate?
Step 1
GET A QUOTE
Ask a certified natural gas contractor for a quote on the installation of an air exchanger with heat recovery ventilator.
Step 2
APPLY FOR PRE-ADMISSION
To obtain the cash incentives offered by Gazifère, you must obtain prior approval by completing the pre-admission form.
Step 3
GET YOUR APPLIANCE INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED NATURAL GAS CONTRACTOR
Step 4
SUBMIT YOUR PROOF OF PURCHASE OR RENTAL OF EQUIPMENT
Step 5
RECEIVE YOUR CHEQUE
If your application is accepted, a cheque will be mailed to you within 8-10 weeks.
*The equipment to be installed must be certified by the Home Ventilating Institute. For the list of eligible equipment, go to www.hvi.org.
